Welcome in the 5th Week of Italian Cuisine in the World that takes place under the banner of an important anniversary: “Knowledge and Flavours of Italian Lands, 200 years after the birth of Pellegrino Artusi”.
This is, in fact, the theme of the 2020 edition of the annual event promoted by the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation.

The celebrations of Pellegrino Artusi, the author of "Science in the Kitchen and the Art of Eating Well" –the first gastronomic treatise of unified Italy, are among the key components of this edition, focused on the trinomial “sustainability” - “quality” - “health”, in line with the policy of protecting Italian culinary traditions and promoting a healthy life-style through the Mediterranean Diet (of which November 16 was the tenth anniversary of the UNESCO recognition) .

In this edition, the focus will be on the enhancement of products of controlled origin and protected designation.
The products of typical regional cuisine will be the spokesperson for the internationalization of Italian know-how, characterized by the values ​​of hospitality and conviviality, because it is important to disclose and investigate everything related to the authenticity of Italian products to counter the phenomenon of Italian Sounding, so that Made in Italy is always recognized and protected.

Espresso is one of the most exported, appreciated and imitated Italian products in the world and the inventor of the coffee machine could only be an Italian.
In Turin, in 1884, 𝐴𝑛𝑔𝑒𝑙𝑜 𝑀𝑜𝑟𝑖𝑜𝑛𝑑𝑜 invented the first automatic espresso coffee machine. The idea of creating a mechanical device that produced instant coffee was linked to the need to limit waiting times and serve more customers at the same time, in the bars of his hotels.
In fact, the word espresso in Italian means ‘quick in time’.

The Espresso Day was therefore created to celebrate this invention that allowed the spread of our beloved drink all over the world!
